Part 1: 1.5 Hour Buggy Safari Up Reykjavik Peak
- Convenient Pickup: Start your adventure with a pickup from your Reykjavik hotel and a short drive to our base camp.
- Gear Up & Get Ready: Our expert guides will provide all the necessary gear and safety instructions. No prior experience needed everyone is welcome!
- Scenic Route & Thrilling Ascent: Ride along the beautiful Lake Hafravatn, navigating various terrains. Ascend to the top of Reykjavik Peak Mountain for stunning views of the Hengill mountain range, Hellisheiði geothermal power plant, Faxaflói bay, the capital region, Bláfjöll mountain range, and Reykjavik's iconic house mountain, Esja.
- Drop-off at BSI Terminal: After your buggy tour, we’ll drop you off at the BSI Bus terminal, where you can grab a bite to eat and prepare for your next adventure.

- Combo Tour: This activity is operated by two partners.
- Included Transfers: All transfers are included for your convenience.
- Driver Requirements: Drivers must be 18 years of age. To operate the Buggy, you must possess a valid driving license from your home country. While you do not need to have the physical license with you, you will be required to sign a liability form affirming that you hold such a license.
- Single Riders: If you are an odd number of travelers (1, 3, 5, etc.), select the single rider option for the odd number.
- Pricing: All prices are listed per person. For single riders, book the single-rider option. A minimum of two participants is required for the shared option.
Pickup Details
- Downtown Pickup: Be ready at your designated pickup point (Bus Stop, Direct Pickup, or BSI Bus Terminal) at the specified time. If your ticket indicates "Go to Bus Stop or BSI," please arrive there. Pickup can take up to 30 minutes.
- Self-Drive Option: If you prefer to drive yourself, our basecamp is only 15 minutes from downtown Reykjavik!

Frequently asked questions about this tour
I've never driven a buggy. Is that difficult?
No, our buggies are very easy to drive. They are automatic machines that you will master in only a few minutes.
Do I need off-road experience to drive your machines?
No prior experience is needed. You will be driving an automatic 4-wheel-drive UTV with a full roll cage and long-travel suspension. It has the same controls as any automatic car or truck. Put the shift lever into drive and go. Even shifting into 4-wheel drive is just the push of a button.
What clothes should I wear?
Wear something you don't mind getting wet and/or dirty. It is a very good idea to bring an extra set of clothing. Wear a warm base layer (the one touching your skin); wool and synthetic materials are best.
What safety riding gear do you provide?
We provide our customers with a helmet, gloves, a balaclava and waterproof overalls.
What is the minimum age of buggy drivers and passengers?
The minimum age for buggy drivers is 17 and the minimum age for passengers is 6. A driver's licence is required.
Are these buggies safe?
Yes. These buggies are very safe. They are built with a low centre of gravity, so they are not tippy, and passengers sit in a 4-point harness inside a complete roll cage. They are much safer than ATV quad bikes.
What is the pace of the tour?
You set the pace of your tour. The pace always depends on the slowest driver. The tour is not a race. It should be fun, and you will also be able to enjoy the scenery.
What kind of machines do you use on your tours?
At Buggy Adventures we use top-of-the-line, factory-made 4-wheel-drive Can-Am 800cc buggies. They were designed with quality, performance and safety in mind, and their long-travel suspension provides the smoothest ride possible over rugged terrain. Wild enough for the off-road pro and tame enough for the first-time novice, our machines will not disappoint. You'll be coming back for more!
Will the tour be cancelled if it's raining?
No way, it's even more fun riding in the rain!
